CHC sources confirmed that an elderly woman from Dabe-Sattari, who was admitted three days ago due to high fever, had tested positive for KFD. She was later discharged from CHC after necessary treatment.
“This is the first KFD case for this season. Last year, around 260 had tested positive and in the beginning, some 30 had also tested positive for KFD,” sources said.
Sources also informed that 7,500 people have so far been vaccinated for KFD in Sattari taluka.
A KFD vaccination programme is also being conducted every Monday and Wednesday from 9 am to 1 pm at the Valpoi CHC. Health officials have advised residents in the age group of 6-65 years to receive the KFD vaccination, if they visit the forest areas.
