1 more arrested in Calangute tourist murder case

Calangute police arrested another shack worker, Suman Sonar (28), a native of Nepal, in connection with the murder of Bollaravi Teja (28) from Hyderabad at the Marina shack on Calangute beach.

In a related development, relatives of the deceased, Bollaravi Teja, arrived in Goa on Wednesday, and an autopsy was performed on the body at the GMC hospital. The relatives later left for Hyderabad with the body of the deceased.

Four persons – shack owners Agnel Silveira (64) and Schubert Silveira (23) of Tiwaiwada, Calangute, and two workers, Anil Kamal Bista (24, of Nepal) and Kamal Sunar (23, of Nepal) – who were arrested on Tuesday, were produced before a Mapusa court on Wednesday and were later remanded to police custody for nine days.

The incident took place around 1 am on Tuesday when the deceased and a group of friends had an argument with the accused over a food order after the closing time of the kitchen at the restaurant.

The accused are alleged to have assaulted Bollaravi Teja and his friends. Bollaravi died after sustaining grievous injuries. Police Inspector Paresh Naik is conducting further investigations.
