10 Canacona taximen booked for restraining, abusing driver

Quepem driver allegedly stopped by rival taximen

CANACONA

Canacona police have booked 10 taxi operators from Canacona on charges of wrongfully restraining and abusing a taxi driver employed by a taxi operator from Quepem.

According to Canacona police, Mayur Rane of Sirvoi-Quepem lodged a complaint stating that his driver, Shaheed Abdul Majid Betkari, had gone to pick up customers from a resort at Palolem on Tuesday when he was wrongfully restrained and abused by Viraj Pagi and nine other taxi drivers.

Acting on the complaint, Canacona police booked Viraj Pagi and nine other taxi drivers under Sections 189(2), 126(2), 352 r/w 190 of BNS 2023. Canacona ASI Anand Naik is investigating the matter.
