Tracked and recovered safely within 48 hours
VASCO
A frantic search for a minor boy reported missing from near the Municipal High School in Vasco ended in relief for the family after Vasco police traced him to Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, within 48 hours of the complaint.
The family had initially feared kidnapping after the child failed to return home, prompting his aunt to approach Vasco Police Station, where an FIR was registered under Section 137(2) of the BNS and Section 8 of the Goa Children Act, 2003.
Following the complaint, a dedicated police team was constituted under the direct supervision of PI Vaibhav D. Naik. Officers launched simultaneous ground searches across Vasco and neighbouring areas, while the technical surveillance unit began analysing digital footprints and movement patterns to track the child’s whereabouts.
As search teams fanned out across the city, investigators discovered through technical analysis that the boy had travelled out of Goa.
Sources said that after leaving the Vasco area, the boy made his way to Margao and later boarded a train heading towards Ratnagiri. This breakthrough allowed the police team to narrow down the search zone, coordinate with Maharashtra authorities, and safely locate the minor.
Sources confirmed that the child had not been abducted but had left home on his own, leading relatives to lodge a missing-kidnapped complaint out of concern. The boy was recovered in good health and has been reunited with his family after formal procedures.
Police said that the swift tracing of the minor was the result of prompt action, coordinated teamwork, and the effective use of technology.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the boy’s departure from home are underway, even as child welfare authorities are expected to ensure appropriate counselling and support for the minor and his family.
