As Belagavi prepares to host the Winter Session of the Karnataka Legislature from December 8 to 20, Goans visiting Belagavi during this period will face huge inconvenience, as all the hotels and lodges in and around the city will be fully booked.

Hotels and lodges in the city will be fully booked by authorities, as the entire State Cabinet, Secretariat and the government machinery will be in Belagavi city during the Assembly session.

“About 3,500 rooms of all hotels and lodges in the city have been booked from December 6 onwards, and there will be no rooms available for guests from Goa or other places. It is better that Goan guests plan their travel accordingly,” said President of the Belgaum Hotel Owners Association, Ajay Pai.

Meanwhile, Legislative Assembly Speaker U T Khader Fareed reviewed the key arrangements and directed officials to ensure smooth and error-free execution throughout the session.

Chairing the preparatory meeting at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, Khader stressed the need for efficient coordination across departments. He instructed officials to address issues promptly, strengthen telecommunication systems, and ensure that all technical facilities remain fully functional.

Authorities have been directed to identify dedicated protest zones with essential facilities and adequate police deployment.

A public help desk will be set up as well, along with strong security measures and smooth visitor movement within the complex.

Cultural programmes and sapling plantation by legislators—initiated last year—will continue this year too.

Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti emphasised seamless arrangements for accommodation and transport for ministers, MLAs, officials and marshals.

Medical teams will be stationed at hotels and at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, along with a fully equipped ambulance.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan shared that 12 committees have been formed for the smooth conduct of the Winter Session. Police Commissioner Bhorase Gulabrao Bhushan confirmed that additional police forces will be deployed, with arrangements in place for their stay and food.
