10 nominations received so far

A total of 10 nominations were filed for the four wards in Bardez the election for which was postponed on the directions of the High Court.

Elections to Ward 1 in Bastora and Anjuna-Caisua and Wards 8 and 9 of Penha-da-Franca panchayat were postponed after some individuals petitioned the High Court objecting to the reservation of the wards.  
Four persons “ Dnyaneshwar Morajkar, Rajesh Pironcar, Ramdas Parsekar and Sandhya Bhagat “ filed their papers for Ward 1 (General) in Bastora while three “ Flaviana D’Souza, Sheetal Naik and Veena Parsekar “ filed their nominations for Ward 1 (women OBC) in Anjuna-Caisua.   
Similarly, two persons “ Swati Shetkar and Kavita Kovleka “ filed nominations for Ward 8 (women) and one “ Umesh Phadte “ filed his nomination for Ward 9 (General) in Penha-da-Franca panchayat.  
The Returning Officers will accept nominations for the four wards till June 20, including June 18 (Sunday).  
The scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 21 and while withdrawal of nominations, if any, is scheduled on June 22.  
It may be recalled Dnyneswar Damodar Morajkar, a BJP karyakarta had got relief from the High Court after he challenged the Scheduled Caste reservation of Ward 1 in 
Bastora. The ward has now been classified in the General category.
