Don’t harbour any apprehensions about govt: Vijai to minorities

Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai on Saturday admitted that people have still not digested why the Goa Forward party, which opposed the BJP before the election, have decided to go with the very same party after the election, even as he was categorical in saying that the minority community should not harbour any apprehensions on the Parrikar-led coalition government.

He further said that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar appears more matured in
2017 than he was five years ago in 2012.
Speaking to the media on the completion of 100 days by the Manohar Parrikar-led government, Sardesai said the Goa Forward is very clear why the party had decided to tie-up with the BJP, adding “we have taken good steps to achieve our agenda for Goem, Goemkar and Goemkarponn”.
The TCP Minister said he has told the minority community that they should have no apprehensions on the government, adding that the minority community should consider him as their man in the government. “We have taken one step forward to build confidence by withdrawing the appeal filed in respect of the Velim Church attack case. We have taken the step to remove the fear of the minority community and clear their doubts that this government is not meant for a few, but for every Goemkar. “We will appease none and favour none. Our actions will prove louder than words,” he said.
When categorically asked whether the minorities have accepted the present government, Sardesai shot back “of course, they have accepted us. Why should the minorities have doubts on this government. The BJP has as many as seven MLAs from the minority community. All these apprehensions amongst the minorities are being created by the Congress to ensure that the government does not work as per the agenda of Goemkarponn”.
Saying that he is not a novice in politics though he is a first time minister, Sardesai claimed that the Congress has still not come to terms over its failure to form the government and is trying to destabilize the government by raising emotive issues.
Saying that it was the Goa Forward party that has made Manohar Parrikar the Chief Minister, Sardesai considered Parrikar as a matured politician in 2017 than in 2012. “Parrikar intends to implement certain programmes for the State and he allowed him to demote himself. This itself is a big sacrifice. He has not been sent from Delhi to Goa by someone, but he was called by us,” he added.
