The Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTC) is set to switch to multiple fuel options, with as many as 100 electric buses expected to join the fleet and 25 of them likely to be launched by December.
Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho announced this to reporters alongside a blood donation camp organised at Keshav Smruti under the ‘Sewa Saptah’ to mark the 70th birthday celebrations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The transport department is in the process of getting electric buses for Goa. We have asked for around 100 electric buses and this too may not be enough for us. But for a start, I will see that electric buses are operated by KTCL before the year end,” said Godinho.
"I think 25 electric buses are arriving soon and though these buses are arriving much earlier, we will keep them ready for commissioning by around November-December. For the first time, KTC will operate electric buses through the central government, which will give us the finances to get these buses,” the minister added.
