The two accused, Mustafa Sheikh and Omkar Patil, who were arrested in the Swapnil Walke murder case, were remanded to 10 days police custody by a court on Friday.
The two were produced before the court on Friday morning which remanded to 10 days police custody.
Police informed that contrary to initial reports that the police had arrested three persons in connection with the case, the men in uniform pointed out that only two persons have so far been arrested in the murder case.
It is learnt that the Crime Branch sleuths in the wee hours of Thursday had nabbed two the accused from Panaji, before they were handed over to the Margao police.
Police interrogations, however, later revealed that one of the two persons, may not have directly participated in Swapnil’s murder on Wednesday noon.
Sources in the police department said the police are still interrogating the suspect, trying to ascertain whether he was part of the criminal conspiracy hatched by the accused persons.
The suspect was interrogated at length by the Margao police at the South Goa district headquarters till late Thursday night, but have so far not been taken into custody.
The police, however, said they are on the lookout for two more accused, who were present in the commission of the crime at the jeweler’s shop on Wednesday noon.
