11 elected unopposed, including 3 from Dramapur-Sirlim VP

Seven-member Dramapur-Sirlim Panchayat has created a record of sorts when candidates in many as three out of the seven wards at stake have been were declared unopposed on Monday.

Overall, a total of 11 candidates have been declared winners by the Returning officers from Salcete taluka after the date of withdrawal on Monday.  
Returning officer, Manoj Kogaonkar told the media that he has declared three candidates contesting the Dramapur-Sirlim elected unopposed, including Sanjana Chari in ward No 3 & 4. 
The other candidate declared elected unopposed from Dramapur-Sirlim was Remie Santan Fernandes from ward no 2.  
Replying to a question, the Returning officer informed that since Sanjana Chari did not withdraw her nomination from either Ward no 3 & 4, she will be issued the certificate stating that she has won from the two wards. 
“It will be prerogative of Sanjana to decide from which ward she would like to represent and resign from the other ward and pave way for the bye-election,” the Returning officer said.  
Other candidates, who have been elected unopposed from Salcete are Reema Fernandes and Esteve Goes from ward No 4 & 5 of Telaulim panchayat, Ida Jose Cardozo e Fernandes from Ward No 8 of Navelim panchayat, Enencio Fatima Rovan 
Pereira (Chinchinim 8), Ritina Oliveira (Sao Jose de Areal 1), Alencia Franklin Carvalho (Paroda 3), Joanita Alemao (Camurlim 4) and Mafaldina Martins (Chandor 6).
