Spectacled cobra caught outside joggers park in Chicalim

A spectacled cobra was caught outside the Joggers Park in Chicalim on Saturday afternoon.rnAn eyewitness told The Goan that they saw the snake crawling from the side of a hospital at Chicalim and was about to enter the park.



VASCO: 
“At first, we thought that it was just an ordinary snake, but as it came closer we were surprised to find out that it was a cobra,” said the witness.
“As it is holiday season, a lot of people and children visit the Jogger’s park, but luckily it was afternoon and there was not much crowd and 
children.”
“We then informed our friends who contacted Stephen Johnson of the Animal Rescue Squad, who caught the snake,” the witness added.
Later speaking to The Goan, Johnson said the spectacled cobra is a dangerous reptile.
“It is fortunate that the cobra was noticed before entering the Jogger’s Park. The snake will be handed over to officials of the forest department,” said Johnson.
