Compared to the size of the State, Goa has a good number of Balwadis and Anganwadis, so to say. Currently there are a total of 1,261 Balwadis and Anganwadis across the State and all of them have a toilet facility either exclusively for Anganwadi Centre or sharing with the owner, informed the Minister for Women & Child Development Vishwaji Rane in the Assembly to an un-starred question by MLA Yuri Alemao.
The minister further replied that there are no separate male/ female toilets as no such provision of toilet is prescribed in the guidelines of Ministry of Women & Child Development.
Stating that providing digital gadgets to AWCs are not prescribed in the guidelines of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi, Rane added that, however some Anganwadi centres are provided with gadgets through corperate social responsibility (CSR).
“The directorate of Panchayat, Panaji has been requested to instruct all village panchayats to provide electric connection to those Anganwadi centres, where it is not available, in view of the letter dated June 14, 2023 of the Ministry of Women & Child Development, New Delhi,” stated Rane.
The minister also furnished the taluka-wise details of the number of Balwadis and Anganwadis with their location, number of children attending in each, age and qualification of teaching and non-teaching staff, salary paid to each staff and the date of posting along with other relevant details from 2019 till date.
