13 arrested for Navami group clashes at Baina

VASCO

Vasco police have arrested 13 people in connection with the Ram Navami group clashes at Baina on Sunday night.

DySP Nilesh Rane and PI Kapil Nayak took over charge at the Vasco police station and police carried out the arrests in the incident.

"Police have been carrying out thorough investigation and probing all angles into the incident. The police also verified the CCTV footage and video recordings and some people were taken to the police station late Monday night and on Tuesday morning,” said a source.

“Thirteen people have been arrested in the incident and were later released on personal bond. There could be more arrests in the incident."

Meanwhile, an additional force has also been deployed in the area to maintain the law and order situation and prevent any untoward incident.

It may be recalled that the clashes had erupted between two religious groups after some members of the Ram Navami procession on Sunday had alleged stone pelting incidents on the procession by some person from atop a house in the Muslim dominated area of Islampur Baina.
