Fourteen government schools and two Government Higher Secondary Schools are being renamed after martyrs, Director of Education Shailesh Zingde issued an order in which he has listed these 16 institutions with the names of the martyrs.
The list includes four from Pernem -- Government High School Agarwada which will be named after J A Chopdekar; the Government High School, Torxem which will get the name of Shahid Ram Singh; Government High School, Gaothanwada-Ozari which will get the name of Tulshiram Balkrishna Hirve and Government High School, Dadachiwadi-Dhargal which will be called the Hutatma Bala Gopal Dessai Memorial Government High School.
The Government High School at Alto-Betim will be named after Krishna Shaba Shet. Similarly, the one at Kasarpal-Bicholim will be pre-fixed as Babuli Narayan Gawas Memorial' and another Government High School in Bicholim taluka located at Tarmatha Bhile-Surla will be named after Ramnath Naik.
In Sattari taluka, the Government High School at the Morlem Colony will get the name of Soma Rama Malik.
In Tiswadi, the Government High School at Dona Paula is being named after Purshottam Kerkar. Kerkar's name will also be affixed to the Government High School at Merces.
Similarly the one at Sadar, Ponda is named after Camilo Pereira.
Two schools will be named after Rajnikant Kenkre -- the Government High School, Vidyanagar-Aquem, Margao and the one at Vasco.
Meanwhile, the Government High School at Baina, Mormugao will also be named after Camilo Pereira.
The Government Higher Secondary School at Khandola will be prefixed with 'Krishna Vasudev Parab Memorial' and the Government Higher Secondary School at Baina-Mormugao will be named after Ramnath Naik.
