Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has invited operators of 'tourist taxi' to register themselves if they intend to operate from its 'Taxi Counter' being set up at the Manohar International Airport at Mopa.
Only those having a valid All Goa and All India Permit Tourist taxi permits are eligible to register themselves for the GTDC counter at Mopa.
A GTDC notice said that the 'Tourist Taxi' operators hailing from Pernem taluka will be given preference.
Taxi operators need to submit their registration form with relevant documents to RFC North/South Goa by downloading the Goa Taxi - Driver App available on Google Play Store at https://www.goa-tourism.com/taxi-registration, the notice states.
Earlier this week, the government had made a categorical assurance that locals from Pernem taluka will be given preference to run their taxis at the new Manohar International Airport at Mopa, with the condition that they will have to strictly follow the queue system to ensure smooth movement of transport.
The first commercial flight is expected to land at the new International Greenfield Airport at Mopa on January 5. Several airlines have already started booking slots at the new airport with IndiGo Airlines showing inclination to start 84 weekly flights from Mopa connecting eight destinations.
