MMC seeks Rajya Sabha MP funds for CCTV project

The defunct Closed Circuit Surveillance Cameras and the non-functioning traffic signals found a mention at the Margao Municipal Road Safety and Traffic Management Committee.

Before the citizens could point out what action the Margao civic body has taken to revive the defunct CCTV cameras in the commercial capital, Municipal Assistant Engineer Srikant Lawande said the civic body has proposed to the Rajya Sabha MP to fund the CCTV camera project. He, however, did not give the status of the proposal, whether the proposal has been accepted or rejected, and whether it has been tendered or languishing at the stage of administrative sanction.

The authorities were also caught napping on the non-functioning traffic signals at one or two locations in Fatorda. Margao Traffic Cell in-Charge, PI Gautam Salunke later conceded that the traffic signals are non-functioning for the reason the annual maintenance contract (AMC) is not signed with the contractor.
