The students and staff of the Rosary High School at Cujira-Bambolim staged a Konkani tiatr ‘Dennem’ written by Fr Doel Dias and directed by the Theatre Art teacher Santosh Shetkar near the Santa Cruz Church on December 17.
The Rosary High school became the first school in the State to stage a tiatr as part of a scheme of the Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG).
The tiatr spread awareness about AIDS and the songs highlighted several social issues in a fun way. TAG Vice President Socorro Fernandes addressed the gathering and felicitated the participants, while also awarding a trophy to the school. Chairman of the Rosary Education Society Tony Rodrigues, Deputy Chairman Joel Rodrigues and the School Manager Regina Almeida handed over tokens of love and gratitude to TAG Vice President Socorro Fernandes, Assistant to the Parish Priest of Holy Cross Church Fr Maurice Colaco and the Tiatr Director Santosh Shetkar.
School Headmistress Alice Joan Goes in her address applauded the initiative taken by the Tiatr Academy of Goa in introducing school students to Tiatr.
She said it would go a long way in building their confidence.
