As many as 14,000 job seekers have got themselves registered for the Goa government's mega job fair, slated to be held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium from November 8 to 9.
The Office of the Commissioner, Labour & Employment expects a footfall of around 15,000 job aspirants across two days wherein 155 companies will conduct interviews to fill over 5,500 vacancies.
Addressing a press conference on the eve of the job fair, Labour and Employment Commissioner Raju Gawas said that more than 14,000 people have registered and is expecting the numbers to go up to 15,000. Considering an overwhelming response, the department has decided to divide each day into two slots to ensure that interviewers and candidates do not face any inconvenience.
"We have also asked some companies to give appointment letters to selected candidates on the same day if they match their criteria. But, the actual selection and appointment process will be at the discretion of the companies," he said.
Gawas further informed that nearly 1.4 lakh job seekers are registered on the live register of the State Employment Exchange.
