15 p’yat wards go to polls tomorrow

A total of 10,623 electors will cast their ballot on Saturday to elect panch members in 15 wards of 11 Panchayats.

the goan I networkrPANAJIrrThese reserved category wards include ward No. 1 in Curca-Bambolim-Telaulim, ward No. 6 in Merces, ward No.1 in Anjuna-Causua, ward No. 1 in Bastora, ward No. 8 and 9 in Penha de Franca, ward No. 6 and 7 in Betki-Khandola, ward No. 5 in Advalpal, ward No. 5 and 7 in Betalbatim, ward No. 10 in Nuvem, ward No. 5 and 6 in Sancoale and ward No. 5 in Chandor-Cavorim. rAround 51 candidates will step into the fray for these 15 wards. rState Election Commission informed that the voting will take place at 17 polling stations on Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm with the counting scheduled to be undertaken on Sunday. SEC will deploy close to 100 polling staff to man these stations and booths. rAccordingly, while June 30 and July 1 will be observed as ‘dry days’ in these specific wards, July 2 will be a ‘dry day’ in all 11 panchayats, whose counting results were not announced pending the voting in these wards. rThe campaigning for these 15 wards has concluded effectively on Thursday. rOf the 16 reserved wards, which were embroiled in a legal battle over reservation and delimitation, panch member in one ward, Ward No. 3 of Betalbatim has already been elected unopposed.

HC clears the decks for 6th casino in River Mandovi
