As many as 179 passengers were deplaned from a Chandigarh-bound flight at Dabolim airport, after a passenger pulled down a control handle of the emergency door of the IndiGo Airlines flight.
Dabolim Airport police later booked a case against the passenger Vishal Shandil of Himachal Pradesh under sections 336 IPC on charges of endangering the lives of the crew and 179 passengers.
The incident took place as the IndiGo Airlines 6E-724 flight was preparing to take off for Chandigarh.
The passenger pulled the control handle of the emergency door, causing the pilots to abort the flight. The aircraft was grounded and as a result, 179 passengers and crew had to be deplaned.
Dabolim Airport ASI Santosh Gaonkar is carrying out further investigation.
