Power tariff hike notified from April 1 unjustified

The Electricity Department  has notified a hike of 5.19 per cent with effect from April 1, 2023 by claiming that the tariff was frozen for the last four years, especially from the Covid pandemic times in Goa.

Hey, if the Electricity Department was really finding it very hard to bring about any improvement in its services due to the old tariff rates then why the same dept was recklessly releasing illegal connections for those renting their restaurants/ guest houses/ rooms/shops in most parts of Goa?

It should be noted that the Pramod Sawant-led BJP government had promised to provide Goans with uninterrupted power supply at a cheaper rate just before the last assembly elections. Unfortunately, the same government after coming back to power seems to have gone back on that promise.

I think that our CM Sawant should now intervene in this matter and give some relief for Goans if he's really running a double engine government in the State instead of  remaining silent  over this latest notified electricity tariff hike in Goa.
