Blaze (Sanito) Alvares, an ex-student of Regina Mundi High School Chicalim and resident of Bogmalo, was staying in the house along with his wife and 18-month-old baby when the fire
broke out.
The mother and the baby were shifted in a critical condition by the firefighting personnel and are presently still in critical condition.
According to reliable information, six family members were trapped inside the two-storey terraced home in Manchester Road after the massive blaze broke in the wee hours of Sunday.
The informant stated that another three had already managed to escape the flames by the time the South Western Ambulance Service had reached the spot.
When contacted, residents of Bogmalo, who knows Sanito and his family, said Sanito’s mother and sister had recently come down to Bogmalo, as Sanito’s sister marriage was fixed in Goa.
“When Sanito’s mother and the daughter heard the news on Monday evening, they left for UK,” informed a resident.
“We heard about the incident, but are not aware how serious the accident is and what is the condition of Sanito’s wife and daughter,” added the resident.
