As expected, the State government on Friday promoted 19 police sub-inspectors (PSI) to the rank of Police Inspectors (PI).
Another 11 PSIs have been promoted as 'officiating PIs'.
The process for the promotion of these police officers had been on for some time, and recently the State government had removed this promotional process from the ambit of the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC).
The promotions were effected by a departmental promotion committee under the Police Service Establishment Board headed by the Director-General of Police.
The Police department has a sanction for 121 posts of police inspectors of which currently 91 were already filled.
With 19 more officers promoted on Friday and another 11 on an "officiating" basis, all the 121 posts of Police Inspectors are now filled up.
Meanwhile, in another separate order, the State government has promoted 21 Junior Scale Officers of the Goa Civil Service to the Senior Scale with immediate effect.
