PANAJI
The State government on Friday threw open one lane of the newly constructed Bambolim to Agassaim flyover for traffic in a bid to ease the perennial traffic congestion on this crucial highway.
With traffic flow expected to increase on Friday and Saturday due to the New Year celebrations, the administration has hurried with the opening of this single lane of the flyover, but many believe it could create a bottleneck where it intersects with the old highway.
Nonetheless, some relief will be felt by commuters on the Panaji to Margao and Vasco route.
Over the last couple of years, traffic jams and confusion have been a daily affair ever since the Zuari bridge work had begun.
