PANAJI
Speaking to media persons, BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar said, “The two remaining cabinet berths will be given to BJP MLAs only.”
Speculations are rife that Vishwajit Rane who quit as Congress MLA may get one of the two remaining berths in the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar-led State Cabinet.
When asked if Vishwajit would join the BJP, Tendulkar said, “the Chief Minister is scheduled to go to Delhi on Thursday to meet the central leaders. The decision would be taken based on whatever directions the central leadership gives.”
The State unit of the BJP on Wednesday held a review meeting with all party office bearers to prepare for Shah’s felicitation scheduled on April 9 at Campal, Panaji. The BJP expects over 25,000 people to attend the same. Stating that the arrogance of MLAs cost BJP heavily in the elections gone-by, BJP President Vinay Tendulkar said that people can even tolerate corruption but not arrogance of the MLAs.
Commenting on the reasons that led to poor performance of BJP in elections, he said, “Our MLAs and even CM had said that the relations of the MLAs with their electors were not very good. We have seen in the past that people accept you even if you are into corruption, but they do not tolerate arrogance of a person. Our leader Advani also had told us this. We experienced it this time.”
Speaking further, he said, “The relations of the MLAs with their electorate were not very healthy. We used to receive several complaints. It was not the party which was arrogant, but the arrogance was at each MLAs level. We also roughly had an idea that we would lose in some of the existing constituencies.”
