The Margao police late Thursday busted a prostitution racket by rescuing three victims and arresting the accused involved in the episode.
Acting on a tip-off late Thursday night, a police team headed by PI Sachin S Narvekar of Margao Town Police Station descended on the ring road at Comba.
The police received specific information on the prostitution activities that two men are scheduled to come to the place on scooters with three girls to deliver them to their prospective customers.
A trap was laid and the two persons were apprehended past midnight at around 1.30 am on Friday.
The three girls who were brought by the accused for the purpose of prostitution have been rescued. The girls are in the age group of 23, 34, 35 years.
The two accused persons, Arman Khan S/o Ibrahim Khan, aged 29 years, a resident of Housing Board, Davorlim and Tejas Marathe, aged 19 years, resident of Madel-Margao have been apprehended along with the victim girls.
A case under section 370 (A) (2) R/w 34 of IPC and Section 4, 5, 6 & 7 of The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act of 1956, stands registered and both the accused persons are remanded in police custody. The victims have been sent to Women Protection Home, Merces.
The raid was conducted by PI Sachin Narvekar, with the assistance of NGO Auda Viegas, LPSI Vibhavari Gaonkar, ASI Dilkush Velip, HC-Shamir Nagnuri, PC-Goraknath Gawas, PC-Vishal Prabhu, PC-Kalpesh Kholker and LPC-Akarsha Gaonkar. The investigation of the case is in progress under the supervision of SDPO, Margao Harish Madkaikar and SP, South Pankaj Kumar Singh.
