2 held for theft in Chapora

Two persons from North India have been arrested by the Anjuna police on charges of breaking into a rented room in Chapora and stealing three mobile phones. The police claim that they managed to crack the case within two hours of registering the First Information Report (FIR), which initially listed the suspects as unknown.
The complainant, Chittaranjan Pradhan, 28 years old, from Odisha, informed the police that on the night of July 20, two unidentified persons entered his room and escaped with three mobile phones and a charger, total value of which is around Rs 1.55 lakh. Pradhan, who works as a housekeeping staff in a hotel, shares a room with two of his friends.
SDPO (Anjuna) Jivba Dalvi said that the police team quickly narrowed down the suspects, and they were identified as Prashant Singh, 32, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, and Parvesh Hussain, 19, from Delhi. During questioning, the accused confessed to their involvement in the crime after which the stolen items were recovered from their possession.
The accused are charged under sections 457 (housebreaking by night), 380 (theft), and section 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
