Two structures along the Shantinagar highway were demolished by railways authorities on Wednesday morning, to make way for an additional railway overbridge at the Shantinagar-New Vaddem road intersection.
The demolition squad took up the demolition of two structures along the Shantinagar Highway in the presence of railway authorities, Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Girish Borker and Ward Councillor Shraddha Mahale.
Speaking to reporters, Borker said it was a long-pending demand of the people that was finally on its way to be achieved.
Ward councillor Shraddha Mahale said the additional railway overbridge was the need of the hour’
“We have been informed that the new railway overbridge will be ready in 6-7 months. This new railway overbridge will be of great benefit to the people of Shantinagar and New Vaddem areas,” said Mahale.
