Unhappy with the quality of work by the PWD, two youth from Nunem-Netravali have taken the initiative to repair many potholes along the Netravali-Mangal road at their own cost.
Prabhakar Gaonkar, who is undertaking the work along with Suhas Gaonkar, said potholes will be filled with stones and covered with cement.
“The cost to repair the road will be borne by me and the work will continue for the next two days,” said Prabhakar.
Prabhakar, who is a daily commuter along the Netravali-Mangal road, said the road was repaired barely eight months ago, but potholes developed in many places and a few vehicles were involved in road mishaps.
“During monsoon, potholes get filled with rainwater and cannot be sighted by motorists. As authorities failed to consider the hardship of locals on account of this bad road, I decided to fill the potholes and get the road repaired,” he added.
