In what is a revelation, 67 unreported Covid deaths in private hospitals in Goa over a period of nine months were brought to light on Monday, giving a shocker to the State as it seems to be a major lapse.
The number added to the 13 deaths that were registered in the past 24 hours, takes the total toll to 2840 instead of 2773. Of the 13 deaths, 10 were recorded at GMC and 3 at South Goa District Hospital.
The 67 unrecorded deaths occurred between August 2020 and May 2020. The reason why these deaths were not reported by the private hospitals to the government is not known yet. But now they will be on the radar and further inquiry would bring out their names in the public domain.
Around six hospitals submitted data late. Show cause notices have been issued to issued to all, CM said with regard to the 67 deaths.
As for the daily figures, with 418 of the 2,745 cases testing positive for Covid, Goa’s positivity rate saw a marginal increase and now stands at 15.22 per cent. With 1,162 recoveries the active covid count of the state has reached 6,397.
The samples tested positive were 418 and 1162 patients recovered. The recovery rate is 94.22 per cent and patients discharged were 74, and new admissions stood at 69.
