The Gou Parivar Shimoga-Karnataka coordinator Girish Hegde successfully performed surgery on two cattle, who had consumed plastic wastage, at Valpoi.
The surgery was conducted at Valpoi Godavardhan Kendra on trial basis, where an expert veterinary team led by Dr Krishnamurthy along with Dr N B Shridhar, Dr Basvesh Hugar, Dr Mahadev Sharma and Dr Raghavendra performed the surgery.
Dr Krishnamurthy said: "The stray cattle are deprived of green fodder, due to which they consumed plastic wastage. This plastic wastage is harmful as the cattle cannot digest it and could die. A number of cattle have died all over the country in the last five years."
"In order to give a new lease of life for such cattle, we are socially involved in performing surgeries to remove plastic wastage from the cattle. Now, surgery was performed on the two cattle and over 2.50 kgs of plastic wastage was removed. The two cattle are out of danger," he said.
Speaking to The Goan, Godavardhan Kendra president Hanumant Parab said now it is possible to give a new lease of life for many cattle. "Gosavardhan Kendra was established to look after the cattle," he added.
