2.6 ha of Veterinary dept land sought for fisheries college

PANAJI
The State government has initiated steps towards the establishment and operationalisation of the Goa College of Fisheries Science, with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant reviewing key requirements for setting up the institution.
Sawant chaired a meeting to discuss the proposed college’s infrastructure, land and facilities, staffing and faculty requirements, as well as construction of a dedicated building.
During the meeting, the government also discussed the transfer of 2.6 hectares of land under the Veterinary Department for construction of the new college building.
Sawant said the establishment of the Goa College of Fisheries Science would be an important step towards strengthening fisheries education, scientific research and the availability of skilled human resources in the State’s fisheries sector.
The meeting also reviewed requirements related to faculty and staffing, besides other facilities needed for the college to become operational.
