In Calangute Anthony Menezes belonging to the local MLA, Michael Lobo was elected by nine votes defeating his rival Gabriel Frernandes by nine votes clearly indicating there was cross voting in the secret ballot.
Eight panch members were elected from Lobo’s panel “Together for Calangute”, while three were affiliated to Joseph Sequeira’s panel clearly showing that one member from Sequeira’s panel cross voted.
Similarly, Rupa Chodandkar from Lobo’s panel defeated Jyotsna Parulekar from the rival panel by nine votes for the deputy sarpanch post.
In Colvale, Dasharath Bicholkar got elected as Sarpanch by defeating his rival Michael Fernandes by 6 out of 9 votes. Rati alias Ritesh Varkhandkar got elected unopposed as deputy sarpanch.
In Pirna Panchayat, Mita Naik and Nalisa Lobo got elected as sarpanch and deputy sarpanch by 4 out of 7 votes, while their rivals Sadhna Naik and Umesh Kaskar got 3 votes.
In Sodiem, two persons had staked claim to the post of sarpanch but Nilesh Vaigankar was elected for the second term. Devanand Pednekar’s nomination was rejected on technical ground as his nomination was proposed by another panch but he himself seconded for the post.
In Aldona, the sarpanch and the deputy were elected unopposed. In Sirsaim, Anand Temkar was elected as sarpanch for second term.
Similarly, Delilah Lobo, wife of Calangute MLA, Michael Lobo has also been elected unopposed for the second term running.
In Assonora, Sapna Mapari missed the sarpanch bus for the second term, on account of her perceived support to Tivim MLA, Nilkant Halarnkar during the 2017 assembly polls.
