27 new faces among 40 candidates in fray for 7 Bardez seats

Three ministers, including the deputy chief minister and four MLAs, will be re-contesting the 2017 assembly polls, after 40 candidates remained in the fray on the last day of withdrawal in Bardez.

A former Congress minister, Nilkant Halarnkar and two-time MLA Agnelo Fernandes are also trying their luck in the election.

As many as 27 new faces will also be contesting in the elections on various parties and some as Independents.

Siolim has the highest number of eight candidates, followed by Mapusa with seven candidates, while only three candidates will vie to be the next public representative in Calangute.

There are six candidates each in Porvorim, Saligao and Aldona while there are four candidates in Tivim.

Two candidates “ Neelam Khaunte and Ashton Santamaria “ both dummies withdrew their nomination papers on Saturday, the day to formally withdraw nominations.

The following is the list of the candidates from the seven constituencies in Bardes:

TIVIM: Kiran Kandolkar (BJP), Nilkant Halarnkar (Cong), Pradip Amonkar (AAP), Douglas Sequeira (NCP).

PORVORIM: Guruprasad (BJP), Rajesh Valvoikar (AAP), Rajesh Amonkar (MGP), Raju D’Souza (Samajwadi Janata Party), Rohan Khaunte (Ind), Wilbur Ticlo (Ind).

SALIGAO: Dilip Parulekar (BJP), Agnelo Fernandes (Cong), Dattaram Padgoankar (AAP), Jayesh Salgaonkar (GFP), Rajesh Dabholkar (SS), Gajanan Naik (CPI).

SIOLIM: Dayanand Mandrekar (BJP), Vinoda Paliencar (GFP), Vishnu Naik (AAP), Paresh Raikar (GSM), Abhijeet Dhargalkar (NCP), Janardhan Tamhankar (Bahujan Mukti), Mukesh Sawant (Ind), Patrick Savio Almeida (Ind).

ALDONA: Glenn Ticlo (BJP), Amarnath Panjikar (Cong), Rosy Ursula D’Souza (AAP), Mahesh Satelkar (MGP), Osbert D’Cunha (NCP), Anandrao Nagvekar (Ind).

CALANGUTE: Michael Lobo (BJP), Joseph Sequeira (Cong), Godwin Fernandes (AAP).

MAPUSA: Francis D’Souza (BJP), Vijay Bhike (Cong), Shradha Khalap (AAP), Vinod Phadke (MGP), Sanjay Bharde (NCP), Rameshwari Morajkar (Goa Su-Raj Party), Domnic Alphonso (Ind).
