A 27-year-old driver from Bogmalo drowned in the Velsao beach on Wednesday evening.
According to Verna PSI Shridhar Kamat, Krishna Talwar had gone to Velsao beach along with his wife at around 6 pm.
"While they were on the beach, the deceased felt that someone was drowning and ventured into the sea. Since the sea was rough, the deceased got dragged into the sea,” said PSI Kamat.
"Locals present at the beach tried to rescue the deceased but were unable to do so. Later, the elder brother of the deceased arrived at the spot and pulled the deceased out of the sea.”
He tried to revive Talwar, but he was unresponsive. He was moved to the Cansaulim PHC, where he was declared dead on arrival," said PSI Kamat.
Verna police had registered a case of unnatural death under Section 174 CrPC, and PSI Shridhar Kamat is carrying out further investigation.
