A total of 28 candidates are in fray for the election to 11 wards of Taleigao panchayat. One candidate has been elected unopposed. Thursday was the last day for withdrawal and total 15 people have withdrawn. The elections will be held on April 28. There is a straight fight in 5 of the 11 wards i.e. ward no 1,5,6,7, and 8.
Meanwhile, Agnel Da Cunha of Babush Monserrate backed panel has been elected unopposed as Panch of ward number 3 of Taleigao panchayat.
BJP supported candidate Sanket Prabhudesai withdrew his nomination on Wednesday. Since there were only 2 candidates contesting the elections, Agnel Da Cunha stands elected unopposed.
