29 more Covid deaths added to death count as ‘reported late’

PANAJI

The Directorate of Health Services (DHS) on Tuesday added 29 more Covid deaths to the cumulative tally. These Covid related fatalities occurred from May 2021 to December 2021. Coupled with one Covid related death recorded in the last 24 hours, this has raised the state’s total Covid death count to 3,515.

It may be recalled that earlier this year in June, the addition of 72 deaths to the cumulative fatality count had caused a public outrage with action then being initiated against the private hospitals which reported these deaths late.

On December 9, a total of 94 Covid deaths which occurred between August 2020 and June 2021 were also added late to the state’s count.

Meanwhile, four more travellers who landed at Goa International Airport from the UK on Tuesday morning have tested positive for Covid and were isolated at the Public Health Centre, Cansaulim.

These passengers alighted from the 103rd flight under the Vande Bharat Mission (VBM) to land at Goa Airport.

A total of 32 people have tested positive for Covid in the last 24 hours. While the daily positivity rate stands at 1.2 per cent, the active Covid case count has touched 388.
