MARGAO
In a major tragedy, three minor boys perished in an accident at the Verna Industrial estate in the jurisdiction of Maina Curtorim police station on Sunday evening when the car in which they were travelling went off the road. While two of the deceased are from Curchorem, the third is from Sanguem. All the three were in the age group of 14-15 years and were studying in the 9th standard.
South Goa district SP Arvind Gawas informed that the the trio was travelling in a car and ostensibly going towards Verna. While the deceased Rowan Sequeira (14) is from Sanguem, Ethan Fernandes (15) and Joshua Fernandes (15) are from Curchorem.
SP Gawas informed that Rohan and Ethan were students of a Sanvodem-based high school, while the third was studying in another school. SP Gawas further informed that the ill-fated car was brought by Joshua. He, however, said it is still unknown where the trio was heading. “It is evident that the car was travelling at a great speed and the driver must have lost control before the vehicle went off the road and crashed,” he said.
As the news of the incident reached Curchorem, relatives of the deceased came rushing to Hospicio hospital where the bodies were brought.
