Three Ugandan nationals in the Mapusa detention centre have tested positive for Covid, even as the number of new cases rose by over 90 in Bardez on Thursday.
The Mapusa Urban Health Centre (UHC) has registered 23 new positive cases in all, including the three foreigners in the detention centre.
“The three foreign nationals are kept in a separate area and their health is monitored by the health authorities,” said Bosco Jorge, Superintendent of Police at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office.
There are 18 foreign nationals undergoing trial in the detention centre in Mapusa.
Mapusa UHC Health Officer Dr Cheryl de Souza informed that health officials will take a call on whether and when the other inmates can be tested for the infection.
In the jurisdiction of the Mapusa UHC, five persons tested positive at Carrasvaddo, four in Altinho, three each in Cunchelim and Mapusa Police Station (detention centre), two each in Gaunsavaddo and Shetya-vaddo and one each in Dangui Colony, Xelpem, Duler and Ekta Nagar.
Health Officer of Candolim Primary Health Centre (PHC), Dr Roshan Nazareth informed that 23 persons tested positive for Covid in his jurisdiction.
He said seven tested positive in Reis Magos, five in Calangute, four in Candolim, three in Sangolda, two in Nerul and one each in Pilerne and Saligao.
Nineteen persons tested positive in Colvale PHC “ Colvale (12), Assonora (3), Tivim (3) and Revora (1).
The Siolim PHC registered 14 new positive cases in its jurisdiction. Nine persons tested positive in Anjuna, two each in Canca and Siolim and one in Parra.
In all, 12 persons were found to be positive with the infection in the Aldona PHC “ Aldona (5), Bastora (5), Moira (1) and Calvim (1).
