3 years on, new desks, chairs dumped in Sanguem Sub-Registrar’s office

Desks and chairs sent to the Sub-Registrar’s office at Sanguem have been gathering dust since the last three years.

CURCHOREM

A visit to the Sub-Registrar’s office revealed that the desks and chairs have been dumped in a room, while a portion of the floor tiles has also broken in the office, causing inconvenience to staff on duty.
According to sources, the desks and chairs had been dispatched to the Sub-Registrar’s office at Sanguem, as part of efforts to provide the office with better furniture.
Asked about the chairs and desks piled up in a room, one office staff said, “The chairs and tables were brought and kept about two-three years back to set up a new office, but the work was pending due to some electrical work.”   When contacted, State Registrar Pandharinath S Sinai Bodke said he was unaware about the state of affairs at the Sub-Registrar’s office in Sanguem.
“It is the duty of the Sub-Registrar to bring such issues to the notice of authorities concerned. We will not know about such things by sitting in Panaji, unless officials in the area concerned bring it to our notice,” said Bodke.
When efforts were made to seek comments from the Sub-Registrar at the Sanguem office on Wednesday, the sub-registrar was not found in the office.
