Whether it was for the development of Ponda town in particular or the taluka in general, the government proposed different projects for Ponda taluka.
In a focus on transportation, Parrikar said the work of Khandepar Bridge costing Rs 297 crore, four-laning of Dhavli Bypass costing Rs 61.38 crore and the missing link of NH 4A costing Rs 184.05 crore are already under execution and would be completed by 2020.
In order to solve the major problem of traffic congestion in major cities, Parrikar said he would draft and implement a dedicated traffic management plan for
Ponda town.
The government has also proposed to take up maintenance upgradation and extension of existing sewerage system at Ponda town.
In a bid to avoid water shortage created during the lean season, the government plans to construct “a raw water pumping station with laying of mains from Ganjem bandhara on Mhadai river to Khandepar river at Opa for pumping of 60MLD to the Khandepar river, besides providing water for irrigation facilities to farmers in
the locality.”
Keeping in mind the power supply requirements in the taluka, the government proposes to take up work to change conductors “with high ampacity conductor along with optical ground wire (OPGW) and communication system in respect of the Ponda-Xeldem and Ponda-Verna 110 KV line with additional 50 MVA, to 220/33 KV transformer at Ponda 220KV Sub-station.”
The government has also made a budgetary provision for the Ponda
Municipal Council.
