Around 32 candidates filed their nomination papers on Monday for the Margao Municipal elections. Among those filing nominations was a group of BJP-backed candidates from
Vibrant Margao panel, prominent being Dr Sushanta Kurtarkar from Ward no 13.
Independent candidates who filed their papers are journalist Pratik Parab from Ward No 24 and sitting GF councillor Angelis Pereira from Ward No 11.
Angelis told the media that he has no idea why Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai did not consider his candidature for ward no 11 despite he working hard in the last five years. “The Goa Forward chief has to answer why he has denied the ticket to me. But, people of Pajifond have given me good response and they have promised to re-elect me to the Civic body”, Angelis said.
