Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday said that a total of 35.5 per cent of the 1,522 wards would be reserved for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes at the panchayat polls, which is scheduled for June 11.

Speaking at a press briefing, Godinho said, “Of the total 540 wards reserved for these three categories, 357 have been reserved for OBC, 168 for STs and 15 for SCs. The Department of Panchayats will move the file for the reservation notification today and the same will be published in the official gazette by the end of the week.”
