36 Goan students for Kala Utsav
PANAJI: A group of 36 students will represent the State at the ‘Kala Utsav’ to be held at National Bal Bhavan, New Delhi from December 8 to 12. The base of the event is mainly folk art in four categories “ music, theatre, visual art and folk dance.
In the theatre category, 12 students of SS Higher Secondary School, Mashem, Canacona will present their play ‘Jagong Jai.' In the visual art category, four students of Sharada English High School, Marcel will participate with their sculpture. In the dance category, ten students of Government High School, Ambaulim, Quepem will perform ‘Dhalo’ dance; while in the music category, ten students of Brahmadurga High School, Paz, Shiroda will perform ‘Suvari Vadan.’
Kala Utsav is an initiative of Union Ministry of Human Resource Development to promote arts in education by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talents of schools students at the secondary stage. The theme for this year’s Kala Utsav is ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
