38 file nomination papers for CCP elections

A total of 38 nominations were filed for 30 wards of Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) till date. All 30 candidates of Panaji MLA Babush Monserrate’s panel filed their nominations on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, dissension within the BJP for the upcoming CCP election was quite evident on Tuesday during the nomination process.

Vishnu Naik filed his nomination for Ward No 10 against a Babush’s panel candidate. BJP leaders including Dattaprasad Naik and Sidharth Kuncolienkar extended support to independent candidates. Naik and Kuncolienkar said that they will support good candidates in the CCP election as polls are not on party lines.

The elections for 11 municipal councils and Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) will be held on March 20. The nominations will be accepted till March 4.
