The Health Department recorded 39 Covid-related deaths on Wednesday raising the death toll of the state to 2,499.
The state’s daily positivity rate remained high at 32.22 per cent with 1,487 new cases of the infection testing positive from the 4,615 samples tested on Wednesday. The state presently has 15,791 active cases of Covid-19.
Of the 39 deaths recorded in the state’s mortality bulletin, 24 occurred at Goa Medical College and Hospital, six at South Goa District Hospital, seven deaths were recorded at private hospitals including SMRC, Mother Care, Imperial Plus Hospital and Victor Hospital and one person each was brought dead at Primary Health Center Quepem and Community Health Center Curchorem.
Of the deceased, 11 were below the age of 50 years and eight succumbed to the disease within 24 hours of hospitalization.
Incidentally, two of the deceased had received their first dose of Covid vaccine while one deceased patient was fully vaccinated.
