Burglars attempted to break into four flats in a building at Upasnagar-Sancoale on Sunday night and a rise in attempted burglaries in the area has prompted the local panch to demand intensified police patrolling in the area.
Residents at Upasnagar said there have been many attempts to burgle houses and shops in the area.
"While my shop was burgled last month, 2 burglars tried to break into 4 unoccupied flats on Sunday and also locked the doors of people staying inside the flats," said one resident.
Another resident said there was an attempted burglary at her pharmacy a few days ago.
"These incidents have been happening regularly and these burglars lock houses from the outside and try to break into other flats. We are living in an atmosphere of fear because these people are bold enough to come when people are awake. We request the government to take necessary action," said the resident.
Meanwhile, Upasnagar Panch has demanded intensified police patrolling in the area.
"These crimes are taking place these days, and the last time we had reported the matter to the police, but nothing has happened. On Sunday night, there have been more cases of attempted burglaries and we have now demanded intensified patrolling in the area.”
“People are living in fear and police must put additional staff in this area and intensify the patrolling and take action on people moving around at night," said Naik.
