4 Curchorem police personnel test positive for dengue

SANGUEM

Four police personnel from Curchorem Police Station in Sanguem have tested positive for dengue over the past two days.

After the cases were confirmed, the Health Officer and staff from the Upgraded Health Centre, Curchorem, inspected the police quarters located behind the station. The inspection reportedly revealed poor sanitation conditions that could have led to the outbreak.

Authorities found the area around the quarters and the police canteen overgrown with bushes. Waste water from the canteen was being discharged into open drains, creating stagnant pools of dirty water near the residential area ” believed to be the main cause of the dengue cases.

Health officials immediately carried out a fogging operation to help prevent the disease from spreading.

Sources also raised concerns about several damaged vehicles dumped behind the station, which could serve as additional mosquito breeding grounds.

All affected police personnel have been advised to take adequate rest.
