45 people donated blood during a blood donation camp organised by the Mormugao BJP Mandal led by President Sanjay Satardekar in the presence of Urban Development Minister Milind Naik on Wednesday at the Laxmi Narayan Temple Hall.
The blood donation camp organised as a part of Sewa Saptah received a tremendous response with a large number of people volunteering to donate blood, but some could not offer blood due to high blood pressure and other related issues.
All COVID precautionary protocols and control guidelines were strictly followed during the camp.
Speaking to the media, Urban Development Minister Milind Naik said that the donated blood would help treat critical patients who need whole blood, plasma and its components and appealed youngsters to donate blood voluntarily as it will save the lives of others.
"Every donor who has come forward today has no idea whose life he could save in an emergency. Every life saved at an Emergency in a hospital is because of a volunteering blood donor at different blood camps. We have conducted the blood donation camp to create awareness among people regarding the benefits of donating blood," said Naik.
Naik said that several programmes and initiatives will be taken up during the Sewa Saptah week.
"These celebrations are conducted throughout the country for the week to commemorate the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We must always work and stand for each other during times of crisis and BJP has been working all this while and will continue to do so. I appeal to the people to maintain social distancing, wear masks and follow all the norms and guidelines laid down by the government so that together we can defeat the COVID-19 pandemic," said Naik.
