A young boy of four years, a Russian national, sustained dog bite injuries after being attacked by strays at the Benaulim beach on Tuesday evening.

Colva police station in-charge PI Filomena Costa informed that the four-year-old victim boy was rushed to the South Goa district hospital after he sustained dog bite injuries. He pointed out that the victim was admitted to the hospital for treatment before he was discharged.

After the incident was reported to the Colva police station, the police sent a team to the Benaulim beach.

Sources pointed out that the young victim along with his parents was on a stroll on the beach on Tuesday. Members of the Pele water sports team rushed to the rescue of the family when the young boy sustained injuries.

Local stakeholders have urged the authorities to take care of the strays and avoid such incidents.

The Colva police pointed out that looking after the strays is an issue that falls in the domain of the local bodies and not the law enforcement agencies.
